Deep Dive Book Group @ William Hall

Introducing the Deep Dive Book Group at William Hall Library! This group reads three works by a particular author, one title per month for three months in a row, for a closer look at what makes this author so appealing. Titles will include a mix of classic or contemporary fiction and nonfiction. Participating patrons will have an opportunity to add their favorite authors into the mix.

This month the Deep Dive Book Group will read and discuss "White Teeth" by Zadie Smith.

"White Teeth," Zadie Smith's first novel, was completed while she was still in college and published when she was 25 years old after a highly competitive auction over the publishing rights. It's a poignant, hilarious tale "set in post-war London [about] the racial, political, and social upheaval of the last half-century [and] follows two families--the Joneses and the Iqbals, both outsiders from within the former British empire--as they make their way in modern England" (adapted from OSL catalog). Partly autobiographical, partly satirical, this dazzling debut should make for lively discussion.

Free and open to the public. Space is limited so registration is encouraged. To register click the button below or contact the library for assistance. Copies of the book will be available to pick up at the William Hall Circulation Desk.
