Deep Dive Book Group @ William Hall

Deep Dive Book Group @ William Hall

Introducing the Deep Dive Book Group at William Hall Library! This group reads three works by a particular author, one title per month for three months in a row, for a closer look at what makes this author so appealing. Titles will include a mix of classic or contemporary fiction and nonfiction. Participating patrons will have an opportunity to add their favorite authors into the mix.

This month the Deep Dive Book Group will read and discuss "Swing Time" by Zadie Smith.

We conclude our in-depth examination of the writing of Zadie Smith by taking a look at her fifth novel, "Swing Time," which explores the lives of "two brown girls [who] dream of being dancers--but only one, Tracey, has talent. The other has ideas: about rhythm and time, about black bodies and black music, what constitutes a tribe, or makes a person truly free" (adapted from OSL catalog). Will the girls' childhood friendship survive the complexities and cruelties of the larger world?

Free and open to the public. Space is limited so registration is encouraged. To register click the button below or contact the library for assistance. Copies of the book will be available to pick up at the William Hall Circulation Desk.
