Reading in the Hall Book Discussion @ Hall

Reading in the Hall Book Discussion @ Hall

This month we're reading and discussing: In the Time of Butterflies by Julia Alvarez

"In this extraordinary novel, the voices of all four sisters--Minerva, Patria, María Teresa, and the survivor, Dedé--speak across the decades to tell their own stories, from secret crushes to gunrunning, and to describe the everyday horrors of life under Trujillo's rule. Through the art and magic of Julia Alvarez's imagination, the martyred Butterflies live again in this novel of courage and love, and the human costs of political oppression."

Reading in the Hall Book Discussion is held at the William Hall Library on the 4th Wednesday of each month. A staff librarian leads the discussion. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the Hall circulation desk or can be requested for pickup at another location. All are welcome. Please register to get on our email list.
