Paying for College: Understanding Financial Aid & the FAFSA @ Central

With the FAFSA opening on October 1, now is the time for students and families to start thinking about financial aid and college affordability. 

How much will college actually cost—and how can families make it more affordable?

This free workshop will break down the financial aid process and help families understand what college may actually cost. Presented by Geoff Decker, an independent educational consultant and co-author of Understanding FAFSA & Financial Aid: Your Guide to Paying for College, participants will learn: 

  • How the FAFSA and the financial aid process work
  • The differences between grants, scholarships, work-study, and student loans
  • How colleges determine financial need and financial aid eligibility
  • How to use tools such as Net Price Calculators to estimate college costs before applying
  • What families and students can do right now to prepare
