Poems from Pictures: An Ekphrastic Poetry Reading @ William Hall
Ekphrasis is the process of describing visual works of art using the written word. Since October 27, poets have been working on writing ekphrastic poems over the course of five workshop sessions under the guidance of poet and educator Ira Schaeffer. Each poem has been inspired by a specific piece of art or photography. At this session, each poet will share one or more of their works in front of a supportive audience of friends, family, and the general public.
Free and open to the public. Space is limited and registration is required. Register below or contact the library for assistance. Light refreshments will be served.
Host Ira Schaeffer is long-time poet and resident of Rhode Island, who has been widely published in a variety of print and e-publications. A former CCRI English Prof., Ira continues to share his love of the written word by leading workshops in local libraries and centers for lifelong learning.
