Setting the Record Straight @ William Hall

Setting the Record Straight @ William Hall

History at its essence is about truth-telling; “warts and all” truth-telling, to be precise. Unfortunately, for century upon century, the blemishes have been left out of the truth-telling about Rhode Island and its storied past. Join historian Tim Cranston in an honest examination of Rhode Island, colony and state, and its relationship with the Narragansett people who were here before, and its complex and convoluted connections to slavery.

Free and open to the public. Registration is not required, but those who register at least three days prior to the event will receive an email reminder. Register below or contact the library for assistance.

Tim Cranston
is an award-winning historian and author who can trace his Rhode Island roots back to 1637 when his ancestor John Cranston emigrated from Scotland. A self-described “Swamp Yankee,” Tim was appointed Town Historian of North Kingstown, and his weekly column, “The View from Swamptown,” ran for over twenty years in the South County Independent. Swamptown Enterprises, Tim’s non-profit corporation, has garnered education and advocacy awards, and he’s been recognized frequently for his tireless preservation efforts.
