Reading in the Hall Book Group @ William Hall

This month the Reading in the Hall Book Group will read and discuss The Heaven and Earth Grocery Story by James McBride.

"In 1972, a skeleton is found at the bottom of a well, unraveling long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. As the characters' stories overlap and deepen, it becomes clear how much the people who live on the margins of white, Christian America struggle, what they must do to survive, and how love and community sustain them."  (Adapted from the publisher)

Free and open to the public. Space is limited so registration is required. To register click the button below or contact the library for assistance. Copies of the book will be available to pick up at the William Hall Circulation Desk.

If you require an accommodation or service to fully participate, please contact access@cranstonibrary.org at least 7 days prior to the event.
