Best Fall Hikes in Rhode Island and New England @ William Hall
Join local Rhode Island hiking expert John Kostrzewa (author of Walking Rhode Island) and well-known hiking author Jeff Romano (author of 100 Classic Hikes: New England) to discover where to go and what you’ll learn about the history, wildlife and natural landscape along the best trails throughout New England. John will talk about Rhode Island trails and Jeff will cover the rest of the region. Both John and Jeff will sell and sign copies of their books after the presentation.

Co-Presenter John Kostrzewa worked for 42 years in the newspaper industry, including the last 29 at The Providence Journal as a business reporter, columnist, business editor, and assistant managing editor. He retired from the Journal in 2017 and spent the next three years as an adjunct professor at Bryant University. During the pandemic, he launched “Walking Rhode Island,” a weekly column online and in the Sunday newspaper about hiking in The Ocean State. A College of the Holy Cross graduate, Kostrzewa resides in Cranston with his wife Carol.
Co-Presenter Jeff Romano is a lifelong New England resident who has been hiking for five decades. He is the author of several guidebooks and has also written numerous outdoor articles for The Boston Globe and other publications. When not hiking, Jeff directs public policy activities for the Maine Coast Heritage Trust, a land trust that conserves and stewards Maine's coastal lands and islands. He lives in Hallowell, Maine with his wife, and shares his passion for the outdoors with his family, including his two adult children.
