Planting for Pollinators @ Hall

Planting for Pollinators @ Hall

Join us as we welcome URI Master Gardener Alan Newton to talk about: Planting for Pollinators: Restoring our RI Ecosystem One Plant at a Time

Why is it important to plant for pollinators? This is the question that is all the more pressing today when entomologists are indicating that 40% of insects are at risk of extinction.  When pollinators are at risk so are humans because 80% of all plants are dependent on pollinators.  This presentation will focus on what to plant and how to plant to help sustain our pollinators

About our presenter:  After 40 years as a minister and educator Alan Newton enrolled in the URI Master Gardener Program.  Having a lifelong interest in gardening he decided that in retirement he would like to share knowledge about gardening with others.  He graduated in the class of 2020 and is the 2020 Rookie of the Year.  He volunteers with public presentations, the Hotline, and co-leads the CCAP Gardens in Cranston.
